About Us

In 1994, the Faculty of Civil Engineering, has established Profile Institute of Structural Engineering (now the Institute of Materials and Structures) and the Professor Dr. Habil sc ing. Rolands Rikards was approved as a head of the institute.

In 1999, the Profile Institute of Structural Engineering, had created a sub branch, called a Professor Group of Automated Design in Structural Engineering, headed by Dr. sc ing. Andris Chate.

As a result of subsequent changes, the Professor Group of Automated Design In Structural Engineering was renamed as the Department of Composite Materials and Structures, headed by Professor Dr. sc ing. Sandris Ručevskis.

Science

Material and structural calculations, experimental testing and prototyping are carried out at the Department of Composite Materials and Structures.
