Finite element analysis of sandwich and laminated composite structures


This direction of research is connected with the finite element analysis of composite structures under static and dynamic loading. Finite element models of beams, plates and shells for the analysis of sandwich and laminated composite structures have been developed. Finite element modelling of the composite structures is performed by the micro mechanical analysis of composite material at the level of single layers or at the level of fibres and matrix. Investigations to connect the behaviour of composite material on the micro level (single layer, fibre, matrix) with the behaviour of composite material and structure on the macro level (beam, plate, shell) have been carried out. PC compatible software codes for the finite element analysis of composite structures have been developed.
