Optimization of composite materials, structures and technological processes

Methodology for optimization of composite materials, structures and technological processes have been developed at the Institute and can be applied for different type of engineering applications. The approach is based on experiment design and response surface methods and consists of four main stages: elaboration of the set of experiment designs; determination of design parameters in the reference points of experiment design by computer simulation or by physical experiment; determination of simple mathematical models in the domain of interest; and optimisation of a selected objective function subjected to the defined constraints. Methodology previously has been successfully applied for optimal design of carbon fibre reinforced polymers, knitted fabric reinforced composites and fibre reinforced polyurethane microfoams.
